Now, potty candy is not candy shaped like a potty. Nor is it candy that looks like feces. It is special reward candy for Princess Monkey Eyes to actually USE the potty. And when I say use, I mean to use it in the way in which a toilet is meant to be used, not as a swimming pool for her baby.
So today I went to the store and bought an assortment of confectioner's delight! I love chocolate & the kids have inherited my sweet tooth, so I knew that all the munchkins would want some potty candy, too.
And wouldn't you know it, it's working! The boys encourage Princess ME to go potty because they want a candy fix & Princess obliges. And we all get candy! Yay!
She has just come up to me & said, "I want candy! I went potty! I want candy, Mama!"
On a side note - I'm glad that the kids have been blessed with strong enamel on their teeth because all of this sugar I hear is not too good for them.

Congratulations, Smart Mama!!
We used candy with our 4-year-old when she was training, and it worked like a charm.
Although, I am dreading the next few years of training twins...
(Good luck on any sugar detoxing that needs to be done!)
Number two was a skill that was slow in coming. It was summertime, so we used Snow Cones as a bribe. Mini Me's first successful deposit came at 9:55pm, five minutes before the snow cone stand closed. No motorists or pedestrians were harmed in the mad dash we made to beat the clock that night. Snow cones for everybody!
P.S. I heart the blog name, big time!
Thanks Annie, I like the name, too!
We've just found that candy is not the winning prize anymore (although it still makes for a pretty good prize). Yes, Princess Monkey Eyes wants money. And pennies don't cut it, either.
Boy, does she know how to get what she wants. Do I shell out the dough or keep changing wet pull-ups? (She's mastered going #2, thank heavens!)
Good thing I'm working now, because I'm sick of changing 2 different bums!!!
We used M&M's with my son to go poop and it worked fabulously! I totally believe in bribes. Oh yeah!
We are trying this method to get Maddalyn (2.5 yrs. old) to "go poopy" in the toilet. It is not going well. She is a sugar addict and even this motivational tool is not enough. When she fills her pull-ups she just shrugs and says, "I no get candy." Oh well. I assume eventually embarrassment will kick in, hopefully before college.
