I love watching The Food Network.
I love watching "Ace of Cakes", a show about a chef who makes these FABULOUS cakes and his cohorts in crime. They are based in Baltimore. It's a funny show & Chef Duff's laugh is infectious!
I love watching "Throwdown with Bobby Flay". I think Bobby (I call him Bobby & not Chef Flay because we're obviously on a first name basis...) is a really great loser (when he loses) and a gracious winner (when he wins). He finds the best of the best & then challenges that person to a throwdown. I saw a rerun recently. It was chowders. Mmmm, I love chowders. Bobby won, even though I think the challenger should have.
I love watching "Iron Chef America". I don't know why. I, of course, always cheer for the challenger and secretly wonder how I can become a judge for this show. I mean really, it can't be THAT hard to judge the taste, presentation & uniqueness of food, can it?
I'm watching this show right now. The battle is rabbit. It's Iron Chef Symon vs. Chef Ruboni (I think) and the rabbit looks heavenly. I've never tried rabbit before. Hence another reason why I should be a judge on this show; my culinary spectrum would be greatly enhanced!
However, there is a downfall to watching The Food Network at night. "What is this downfall, HRH? There can't POSSIBLY be a downfall to such a wonderful network." I will tell you.
When I watch people cooking food, I want to eat the food, so I go to the kitchen to see what I can find. No, I don't prepare a new dish late at night, but it doesn't help the waistline to be eating Potato cheese soup or noodles with butter and Parmesan cheese at 10:00 at night. (I know, my cuisine reigns supreme!)
I know there's an easy cure for this. Don't watch Food Network late at night. I COULD just turn the tv off, or turn the channel to HGTV, Discovery, TLC or (gasp) a LOCAL network. But reality tv has gotten a little too extreme in some instances and a little too LAME in others. So network tv is out and Food network is IN! That's MY kind of reality tv.
Ah, the goodness of food. Glorious food! Today I learned that I can make sea scallops covered in a sun dried tomato paste wrapped in prosciutto and then baked. Oh it looked so good.
I love this station!

Ahhh, I could have written that myself! I love Duff! I thought I was the only one. He's so quirky, in a cute way. Ah, food. I love the FoodNetwork. My figure, hates it! You have to eat when you watch it. It's a mandatory, and really, who can turn it off?:)
Ah! Don't make me jealous! I LOVE watching the channel but... we don't have tv. :( I did find though, we could check out Alton Brown's dvds through the local library. It's not my FAVORITE but it helps....
And - late at night? Well uh... no advice. Sorry!
I love food network too and I love Iron chef america too. I've only seen ace of cakes of couple of times too, but you do have a point of watching the shows and getting hungry. I love TLC too espeically deadliest catch.
Ok smarty pants, you figured me out...don't share the blog link will you, just in case I wanna complain about the locals. Thanx dearie! ;)
p.s. My hubby is a total foodie and I've watched more Food Network than I care to remember...and eaten more food after 9pm than I care to admit. LOL
Hi, my name is Pezlady and I am addicted to Food Network...also. HOly Cow! That was too funny! I LOVE all those shows and sometimes I get hooked into watching them until late late late late at night (ok morning), especially when my hubby is travelling. My biggest problem is that it makes me hungry too and I just want to eat! We love Bobby so much that on our recent trip to NYC, we made SURE that we went to Junior's Bakery for a cheesecake because Bobby did a throwdown against them. :)
A la cuisine!
As the wife of a professional chef, I am required by law to watch the Food Network. Fortunately, I enjoy it!
I do miss the original Iron Chef (in reruns on FLN), and I am rarely tempted to eat those authentic and often frightening Japanese dishes.
I have an easy cure for stopping those late night food cravings ... watch Anthony Bourdain or Andrew Zimmerman (the latter might be on a different station); you will NOT want to eat what they're trying!
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one! I love The Food Network too, and I even record the Ace of Cakes episodes...yes, I have problems...
Bobby Flay is awesome...but I have to say that I love the fact that he has lost all three of his challenges in New Orleans. Eventually he'll learn that he can't beat the best!
