Charlene

Meet Charlene.

Optimus Prime found her while visiting the grand parents in Colorado the last few days.

We decided to keep her.

So we put her in an ice cream bucket with a worm, some legless grasshoppers, bark & water and let her trek with us back home.

The kids (okay, the girls) are in love with Charlene.

Oh, why did we name her Charlene?

Because of this book.

The story is told in first-person form. The narrator has a pet salamander named Charlene.

Popeye reads this book every night to Grand Duchess and Princess Monkey Eyes before bed. He has sound effects and everything.  And the girls love it.

"You're a salamander and I'm a salamander eating dinosaur! (insert Popeye's ROAR here)," says Bootsie.

We love this book.

And we love Charlene.

(It's good to know that she's now out of the ice cream bucket and in a temporary home until a 10 gallon tank can be located.)
