a little nervous but going forward with faith

the low down.
After much fasting and prayer, Popeye and I decided to take a job with a sheriff's department in NW Nebraska. We will be stationed in a little town 25 miles from a slightly larger town. This little town has been having law enforcement issues. They can't keep their cops. I don't know why and that scares me a little.
But because we got confirmation that that is where we need to be now, I will go forward happily. So the sheriff department is being contracted to come in and be the local law enforcement for them. The sheriff offered Popeye a job last week when we met with him. Now just to get the contract between the county and city and we'll be golden. 98% done deal.
We went there this past weekend to look at houses and check out the branch there. When I hear the term "branch" used, I get sick. The only branch I've been to is located by lake powell - Teekaboo Branch - where there were seriously 5 people there. Our family was always asked to sing and speak the weekends we visited them.
And that's what I thought was going to happen in NE. But it wasn't that way at all. The branch president introduced himself along with other people asking if we were visiting and where from. When they found out we were potential branch members, they were all about the welcome wagon! And the singing! Oh the singing!!! It was loud and in 4 part harmony! Who needs a ward choir when the whole ward is the choir?! AWESOME!
And then as we were standing in the hallway chatting, up walks an old friend from our old ward 2 1/2 years ago. I had completely forgotten she had moved up there! What a pleasant surprise! And there's a little boy there who is deaf and his mother interprets during sacrament meeting and both he and Mr. Fantastic thought it was pretty cool we were there. Sara - the mother has an accent like yours. ;)
After church we drove the 26 miles back to the Little Town to meet with the realtor to look at one last house. Oh. My. Goodness. It is perfect!

An old house - built in 1915 that had to be moved to a new foundation. And because it had to be moved onto a new foundation, they decided to do new other things, too. And the best part about those new other things? They're the expensive ones! New furnace, roof, windows, electrical, circuit breakers, plumbing, central air... AWESOME! (Said high-pitched sing-songy like.)
So all the work that needs to be done is esthetic. The kitchen is new with new appliances and the master bath is new with granite coutnertop. Just needs a little bit of paint and carpet!
5 bedrooms, an office, 2 bathrooms, workshop, covered porch, unfinished basement with an egress window that we could turn into a mancave for popeye... And all the original, gorgeous 1915 woodwork that makes you fall in love with a house that old.
yay.
Now I'm down in Denver visiting my parents with the boys while Popeye is spending some time in northern CO with his dad and the girls. I'll go pick him up on Thursday morning and then we'll head for home. We'll stop in Rawlins, WY and have dinner with a friend who lives there. I haven't seen her in for.ev.er! I can't wait to see her sweet kiddos! She had quads a couple of years ago - I can't wait to meet them!
Anyway. it's going to be a great week!
School starts for us on the 7th (or 6th) so we're getting in some family time before the chaos of packing and such begins.
Wish me luck that my sanity will remain intact!
Oh yeah. We camped at the city park there in the Little town. We didn't want to pitch the tent, so we took the seats out of the van and all piled inside. It was really warm and there were feet in places that shouldn't be. But it was a memory. :) The city park is gorgeous!!!
