I'm at a loss as to what to give my boys for Christmas. Money is in small supply around our house right now & I was hoping to make something for each of the kids. I have a little table cabinet that I plan on turning into a kitchenette for the girls. I have fabric for jammie bottoms. But what to do for the boys?
HELP! I need suggestions!
With Black Friday upon me this week, I am feeling a little pity party coming on. I ALWAYS shop Black Friday. I ALWAYS get some fun thing for the kids from Santa on this day - something I can't afford on any other day.
And this year I have no money. So I won't be going shopping. I know this time of year isn't to be focused on the gifts. So, how can I bring the true meaning of Christmas into my home and still let my kids have a wonderful holiday?
I don't know if I'm expressing myself adequately or accurately. So, sorry if this comes across as superficial and materialistic. But I'm a firm believer that the kids have to have SOMETHING under the tree Christmas morning.
So. What are you getting your kids?

I have the kids lists too but also at a loss to get them too since we are traveling for christmas. Yeah I feel the pity party too.
:(
I hear ya. LOUD and clear. We're in the same boat. A lot of us are! What about different super-hero capes & masks for the boys?
I was just feeling the same pity party this morning as I went to the grocery store to see so many of my staple items were priced through the roof. We are certainly living in tough times and I'm certain it will get harder.... I guess it's just all a good learning opportunity for us parents to be creative & thrifty during the holidays. :) I just wish I were more crafty like you.
Do you have a dollar store near you? I am giving my boys puzzles, they love those and boyish coloring books. Here's an idea: you could make them rubber band guns and then go with Sara's idea for capes and masks. It's just an idea that popped into my head. We will be having a small Christmas this year too. Hugs, hugs.
I found a cool link to make rubber band guns if it's something you want to do.

And maybe try to focus on fun times together. Make it more about the experience of family time. Have them help create a new tradition. We too are keeping it simple this year and trying not to focus so much on the gifts. I'm sure they'll love your handmade, thoughtful gifts more than anything you could buy. (I hope my kids will too.)
