Back in December we paid off our van. Remember that? It was a most glorious day.
Well, 2 days later the bank withdrew our almost $500 van payment out of our account.
And I have been trying to get that money back ever since.
This past Friday I was informed that for the past 2 months the customer service representatives have been lying to me when they said that my check was "in the mail". LYING! My check is NOT in the mail and hasn't even been issued yet. And to top it off, the rep told me to wait longer for it to get here and wouldn't answer anymore of my questions.
I demanded to speak to a supervisor.
The supervisor kindly told me that she would call accounting and see what's up and that I should call back in 72 hours.
So today (96 hours later) I called back.
After being told to wait 30-45 days for the check to get here (it's been past 60) I asked to speak to the supervisor again. Oh, wait, she's conveniently out of town. Oh the OTHER supervisor? yeah, she's on a call but my information will be given to her and she'll check into it. Please call back on Thursday.
Sure she will and no, I'll call back tomorrow.
I'm just wondering. This company is really far away from where I am. I would LOVE to walk into that place and demand my money right away with some AK47 blazin' on my shoulder. I am THAT mad. But I can't do that. All I can do is keep calling and demanding my money. And they keep telling me to call back. Call back. Call back. What else can I do to get my money from these people?!?!?!
And sorry to say my frustrations are being taken out here within the walls of my temporary home.
Sigh. I want to cry.

Then go online, find out the chain of command, and send a certified letter to the office manager, his/her boss, and also to the president of the company. Be factual in timeline and all of the details of who you've spoken with and all that jazz. You probably already know all that though.
Sorry you're having to deal with this... I think that because you don't live there, they can just keep jerking your chain over and over.
The squeaky wheel gets the oil - keep bugging them.
I second Christine's comment. If the vehicle was paid off (have they sent you a letter of satisfaction on the loan yet?), there is no reason why they should be holding on to the additional payment. Call them every day and just keep doing what you are doing.
