Things are going surprisingly well here. Despite the unfathomable amount of illness going around our town, I have managed to keep my children all healthy (aside from Princess Monkey Eyes who got "it" 2 weeks ago and was out of comission for 4 days). But we're all healthy now. No one else got "it". It being an incredibly high fever and nasty cough. Night one she woke up asking for some help from Above - so I called around and got some men to come over and administer to her. The next few days she was confined to my bed hopped up on delsym and ibuprofin. It helped. Since she was confined to my room, everything got sanitized. And I mean EVERYTHING. Not just the light switches and door knobs, but the remotes, computers, computer mouse, tv buttons, drawer pulls, chair backs.... You get the picture. And my major germ-killing spree helped keep the rest of us healthy. Sigh. I'm so glad for that.
Mr. Fantastic is improving in school. No homeschooling yet.
This is my month to teach Joy School with Thor. I'm finding it incredibly difficult. It really just isn't my forte. I find it hard to sit and entertain preschoolers with half a dozen activities for 2 1/2 hours. Granted my lessons are planned out for me - but they're pretty complicated, too. Experimenting with food coloring, making jello using colored ice cubes, playing with magnets. Let's just say I'm really excited for Thursday and our Valentine party. Decorate cookies, play with play dough, pass out valentines, go for a heart hunt. All easy.
Anyway, moving on. Grand Duchess is short on her immunizations. Really short. Our last place of residence wouldn't give shots at the well-check visit and so I always forgot to set up an appointment for her to get shots. So I took her to her well-check visit yesterday and they started catching her up. 3 shots. And she hurts, poor girl. But I am a firm believer that the shots help prevent illnesses. (This is not up for debate. This is my opinion. So please don't go there.) I always wonder - had Mr. Fantastic had all of is Prevnar shots (the ones for meningitis) would he have gotten ill? So there you go. She's totally bi-polar today. Cranky and whiney when NOT on pain meds and her happy go lucky self she she is. (Pain meds being ibuprofin and tylenol. :D)
Not much else going on here. Popeye comes home Friday. I am SO excited. We have a sitter lined up and we are going OUT. Away from here. For more than 3 hours. I can't wait!!!
I've been swimming at the pool 3 times a week. Today I worked my way up to swimming 750 meters(?)/yards(?) and kicking 1050. It's a mile or maybe just shy of a mile now that I think about it. Regardless - it was really far. And I did it! The next time I go swimming will be Friday.
Tomorrow is lunch at Arctic Circle and Thursday I'm having a chocolate fondue party with some girlies. Shoot - Friday I'm helping in Optimus Prime's classroom. I just remembered. ARGH! With all these illnesses going around I don't know if I can find anyone to help me with the kids. Will have to look into that.
Well, that's it for now. No deep thoughts, just randomness.
Have a great week everyone!
