Monday was a bit intense. Princess Monkey Eyes and I were driving to our riding lessons when the truck died. And I don't mean it just "fell asleep peacefully". It made quite the exit with all sorts of scary noises that got the attention of the people at the bank. So we parked and said a quick prayer asking for a safe delivery to and from our lesson. A stranger pulled in and asked how she could help - so we jumped in her car and she took us the rest of the way. How sweet of her! She had a bobble-head Jesus on her dash and we discussed all sorts of things in that 10 minute drive. I'm sure she will be blessed for her service. After we made it back to town (via a friend) - I called Popeye (who was about 2 hours away with the rest of the kids) to let him know what happened. My friend had taken us to the car delearship where I had been eyeing a few trucks and working with one of the sales reps, "Mike". He hooked me up with a Suburban for the day - so I drove that around, and almost bought it! But when I finally got back to MY town (later that evening with Popeye & the crew), I saw a smaller Jeep for sale. It was pretty clean, much smaller (perfect for the uses a second car was needed for) and much more gas efficient.
Needless to say - yesterday we bought the Jeep. The dealership took the truck off our hands for $300 and now Popeye has a new fishing Jeep that he is more than giddy about. It's funny to watch him talk about it. Like a kid at Christmastime, I tell ya!
Then, after purchasing the Jeep we headed to the ball fields for Mr. Fantastic's first ball game of the season! They lost 9-6, but it was a fun game. A lot of stealing bases and walking to first - but fun nonetheless. The other team had a player that was taller than their coach - and he was 12!!! It was crazy! Our team really needs to work on catching that blasted ball. Too many dropped balls cost us the game, that's for sure. Oh well. He's got a double header on Thursday. Tonight is Optimus Prime's first game of the season and I'm afraid I'm going to miss it. I promised the YW at church that I would help them finish sewing their aprons and skirts for trek. I wonder if I can get out of it...
Tomorrow I get to do a relief society activity (so yes, I'll be missing the double header). It was originally planned as something kinda lame but I don't "do" lame. So I'm switching it up. I'm in charge - so I can do that! :) We're taking beadboard and turning it into flags. While we're waiting for the paint to dry, we'll make poppies out of tissue paper (the lame part but she still wanted it incorporated) to take to the nursing home. I'll make a larger flag to show as the example for the ladies and then take that to the nursing home, too. I'm thinking I'll print some patriotic words or something on that one - like 'never forget' or 'land of the free'. what do you think?I wish I had a cricut so we could do vinyl lettering... And then they can display is in their common area. :)
Anyway - I got the idea off of pinterest. The flower tutorial is pinned here. The flag tutorial is pinned here. It should be a fun time!
So now it's time for me to get dressed. We leave for our next riding lesson in an hour - we're so excited!!!!
Have a fun day!
