So this week was a bit eventful for me, really. I got a lot accomplished & a lot happened with the family, too.
First off, Mr. Fantastic lost his first tooth. Was it loose? Nope. While we were visiting my in-laws last weekend Mr. F. thought it would be great to use his tooth to fix a toy. Thus, causing the tooth to become extremely loose. The next morning he was playing with it & it popped out. We saved it & that night he got ONE WHOLE DOLLAR for the beloved tooth. It was pretty shiny!
Here's a pic of him.
Optimus Prime gave me a flower bulb from MOPS (Mothers of PreSchoolers) that was in a plastic cup with rocks. On the front of the cup is a sticker that instructs me to fill it with water up to a certain line. Uh, okay. Now I'm not a gardener, in fact, I suck at making things grow (children included, apparently). But don't flowers need dirt? But I trusted these women who take care of my child & filled the cup up to the line with water.
Imagine my delight, not to mention the delight of O.P. as this is what we woke up to this morning!
Isn't it pretty? It grew! Okay! So NOW what do I do? Do I leave it there? Do I repot it? Do I plant it outside? It's really cold outside, so I don't know if that's a good idea... Advice please!
Okay. Now, Thor threw up the other evening. He had gorged himself at dinner time & drank almost 16 ounces of milk. Please remember that he's not even 1 yet. So he was so full he threw up. On the carpet in his room. And it started to stink. And I couldn't find a carpet cleaner to borrow. So we thought it would be a good time to take up the carpet in that room, since there's hardwood underneath.
Yeah. It was a good idea. Executing that idea was a bit harder. See, the previous owners thought it would be smart to GLUE the WHOLE carpet onto the hardwood. And we started to take it up & it was near impossible!
Here are a few pics. The first one is Optimus Prime sitting on the hardwood (with carpet backing & adhesive still stuck on) and the second is a side-by-side shot of the hardwood & the carpet.
Ugly carpet, I know. Happy day, though - Popeye got the rest of the carpet up while I was at work & we found a "safe" paint-stripper to get the yucky stuff off. So in a few days I'll show you what pretty floors are about to be rediscovered in the upstairs bedroom!
And last, but certainly NOT the least, I have started my quilt! I have about 6 blocks done now & 5 more cut & ready to be sewn together. Here's a pic of my first block - it turned out pretty, I think!
So those are some of the events happening at my house this week. Hope you enjoyed!

I believe that flower is what they call, "Paperwhites." Anyhoo - NO, do not put dirt in it! NO - do not put it outside! Just enjoy its beauty inside. Oh - by the way, looks gorgeous with your red walls! Striking!
Wow - what an eventful week! Hope everyone is doing good. And what is up with gluing the carpet down? They didn't want it to shift? That's what carpet nails are for! Have fun with the stripping of the glue! Can't wait to see pics!
Wow! Congrats to him on the lost tooth (and for raking in the $$ for it!).
Beautiful flower - good luck with it - I'm SO not a green thumb.
I hope those hardwood floors turn out just AWESOME!
And the quilt block is beautiful!! I can't wait to see the finished project. :)
The plant is a paper-white narcissus, and sariqd is right, you don't need to re-pot it or put it in dirt. Just keep the bulb moist and in bright light, but low temps and it should bloom for a while! (When it finishes blooming, throw the bulb out.)
I am VERY jealous of your quilt - it looks beautiful. I wish I were talented in the sewing department ... I've always wanted to quilt and have envied my Mom in her sewing skills (which she tried to share with me to no avail). It would be so cool - not to mention moneywise - to make clothes and such for the girls. I'm trying to get a Quilting Group started as one of our Enrichment Groups at church, so maybe I will get to where you are someday!
What a wonderful block! Very pretty and creative!
