Well Done, My Good & Faithful Servant

I'm sure those words are what President Gordon B. Hinckley heard from our Lord, Jesus Christ, only hours ago.

The man was amazing. And now he's gone from this earth. I'm a little in shock, just because I didn't expect it to happen so soon. But I'm not worried about the Church. I'm not frightened for his salvation. Anyone who has listened to President Hinckley knows that he has a place in heaven.

I would just like to share some things.

I got to see him in person in Colorado Springs, CO when I was a wayward youth. I didn't appreciate it at all. It's not everyday that you get to see a prophet of God - well for some it might be, but that number is small in comparison to the rest of the world.

I have enjoyed gaining my testimony & now appreciating watching General Conference. When I was younger I didn't really understand why it was so important. That's part of growing up, I guess.

I saw where he lived. My sister's in-laws lived on the same floor, just next door, to the prophet & we went there. We went to church in his ward and he was there. And he looked at me. And I felt that he could see inside my soul. And there was nothing but love in his eyes.

He was a prophet of God. This I know. His life was spent in service to others, reaching out to people to bring them closer to our Savior. I know that he is with his wife now & that the eternal family unit is true & everlasting. I will always have a place in my heart for President Hinckley because of the guidance he has provided and the example he has set. He was a true desciple of Jesus Christ.
Farewell dear friend! You will be missed!

can i add some comic relief? i read you through my google reader and this popped up as: "well done, good and faithful servant - would you feel better if i licked your face? - i'm sure those words are what prophet gordon b. hinckley heard..." i read it over a few times before i realized what i was reading and then i just laughed and laughed.

he will be sorely missed. i'm a convert and don't know the church except under president hinckley's direction, so i've been especially sad.
