Back in the saddle again

Today was my first day back to work since taking my hiatus at the beginning of February.
It was nice to have the break. But let me tell you, it was even nicer to be back.
Not that I don't love being home with my hubby and kids. I do! But as all of you mothers know (not just SAHM's, but working ones, too), it's nice to have a break. And my break comes in the form of work & my iPod.
Oooh, it was wonderful! I was welcomed with streaky, spotted floors, dust, finger prints, pet hair & dirt. I put in my headphones, got out the cleaning supplies and got to work! First I headed to the back of the house to tackle the office. Not that I "tackled" it, it was hardly dirty. But there was a fine layer of dust on the picture frames and shelves and a few finger prints here and there. Then I headed to the bathroom and then on to the master bedroom and bathroom. After that was the living room and then the kitchen. And lastly I headed downstairs to the family room and another bathroom. And each time I headed back into the kitchen for a drink from my water bottle, I felt so alive! The sweat. The heart pumping. The smell of the cleaning products. The whir of my beloved Dyson. It all was so welcoming.
And I came home feeling energized and ready to make some lunch, pick up the family room and feed Duchess.
Next week I'll clean for 4 clients and I'm really looking forward to it!
I think the ultimate reason is that it is exercise! I don't look at my work as work. I look at it as my only means to exercise. And who wouldn't love getting paid to exercise, right? Last time I lost the weight, it took me almost a year. And given I'm still nursing and have GAINED (that's right, gained) 10 pounds since having Duchess, I'm ready to shed it!!! The doctor gave me some calorie guidelines and I can't wait to see the results!!!
Here's to healthy eating, lots of exercise and time away from the world!!! Cheers! (Water bottle in hand!!!)

It does feel great to get out of the house once in a while. Your family will be happy because you are happy!

I love cleaning houses, but I do it with a friend to help pass the time. It's a great way to make some extra $$$ and it's my only form of exercise too! :)
