Does anyone you know love permanent markers? In our house the culprit is Thor. Well, Princess Monkey Eyes likes them, too. But she's a bit more responsible. Thor on the other hand... Well, he will draw ON anything WITH anything. And if there's a sharpie laying around, even better! (Please note, I try to keep them put up on the high shelf where Popeye likes them - but Princess ME knows how to get them down and doesn't put them back. I DID say she is a BIT more responsible, not completely.)
Anyhow. I was over at "Could you bring home take out?" and Natalie gave me a wonderful tip for today! See, her darling little one loves sharpies, too. Natalie is just more willing to do the research to get the sharpie out than I am. Maybe the fact that her $100 doll was at stake was motivation enough. I'm sure if my toilet seat lid cost that much then I'd be more motivated to strangle, er, discipline Thor and do the research myself.
But it doesn't cost that much and I'm thankful to Natalie for her researching skills!
So, tried and true, get some acne medicine like "ProActiv" or the cheaper, WalMart "Acne Free". Apply it to your trouble spot and let it set. Natalie kept it on there for 3 days (even though she was told a few hours would do the trick) and it came off!!! I'm SO going to try this on the toilet. Come to think of it, I have a wicked sharpie stain on my kitchen table - but because it bleaches clothing, I wonder if it will bleach the table... Hmmm, maybe try in a discreet area first?
Anyway - it's the secret ingredient benzol peroxide that does the trick. So there you go.
Thanks Natalie for the tip!

Magic erasers do it perfectly too on walls and other surfaces! Tried it and it works.
I've had sharpie all over my tile and granite many-o-times, and each time I've gotten it out no problem with a little paste made of baking soda and water. You don't have to let it sit and you don't have to scrub. It just wipes right up. I might even go draw on my toilet seat right now to see if my trick (which I got from google) works there, too. Good luck!
LOVE this idea and the other commentors ideas as well. I wonder if that will work with pen. I will have to give it a shot. Love Tuesday's Tips!:)
I'll have to try that! When Maddalyn was almost 2 she got ahold of one of Daddy's 'work markers' (sharpie) and colored over every piece of furniture in our living room and the dresser in the master bedroom. We got it out of all the fabric (pretty much, or maybe, over time, I've grown used to it and cease to see it anymore), but the wood items were ruined. Can't wait to see if it works!
