This week commenced the 2008-2009 school year. Mr. Fantastic started the second grade in Mr. N's class. He loves it. He says Mr. N is so cool. I'm glad that he's enjoying it.
Optimus Prime started kindergarten on Tuesday. Well, kind of. They do kindergarten screening on the first two days of school to see where everyone is academically. Then today we found out who his teacher is: Mrs. R! We were hoping for Mrs. W or even Mr. M. But no such luck. I wasn't impressed with the behavior of some of the kids - or parents for that matter. Lots of chatty people. As I sat there TRYING to listen to Mrs. R talk, I couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed at the parents sitting behind me.
Optimus Prime is a very obedient boy but he also has a tendency to go with the crowd. I'm afraid his good behavior will become corrupt. I also noticed that he's much more advanced than the kids sitting around him and pray that he doesn't get bored in school. His teacher was saying how in the second semester they start "Walk to Read" where they switch up the kids to reading groups that are at the same levels.
Ummm, OP is already reading. Lots. Here's to hoping for a good school year!

Princess Monkey Eyes also started
pre-school on Tuesday. She'll be going twice a week. I'm glad she had a good time but I can't shake the feeling that this isn't a wise choice for us right now. I'm a little miffed at some of the
misguidance I've been given by the "teacher" and have half a mind to pull her from the program.
The kids loved school shopping and counting down the days to when they'd actually be set free from this prison they call, "home". I found it interesting while walking Mr. Fantastic up to his school that there were smiles on
every one's faces. Not that I expected tears. But the REASON behind the smiles was different for the two generations. Kids were smiling because they were going back to school, seeing friends, learning new things. Moms were smiling because they were going back to school & getting the kids out of the house for eight hours. I wanted to do cartwheels down the sidewalk but I refrained & just smiled to myself, knowing that I would be down to one child a couple of times a week.
Ah, sweet silence.

What preschool is she in? Initials will work, I can figure it out. ;) I'm so happy the boys are excited to start school and I hope they have a GREAT year!! Enjoy your peace and quiet. :)
Elizabeth, she goes to "W. A. P." It's new - just started this year. It's a daycare in the home but in the mornings they have daycare. I have some misgivings that I'll need to address with the "teacher". We're good friends, which is why I'm a bit miffed about the issues I'm having.
Alison knows which preschool it is, so you can ask her if I don't see you around & you can't figure it out...
They're so grown up! I can't believe how fast time goes by. My kids started this week too. I feel like I can hear myself think again.
