More This & That

I feel like I haven't been on the computer for a month! It's only been a few days, though. Yes, that's how busy my life has become. The more busy things get, the more time passes so quickly that it's hard to keep track of things.

Here's what's going on.

First: We took Popeye (the sailor man) to the airport this morning for his 2-week training in Boston aboard the USS Constitution. He has been looking forward to this for quite a while. We woke up before 5am today, got the kids loaded up into the van & got him to the airport on time. There weren't any hitches to complicate things, well, except the one where the airline lost his luggage. All his uniforms (that if he doesn't show up in a crisply pressed uniform tomorrow morning then he gets sent home), his toiletries, underthings & cell phone charger - just to name a few. So I spent a good part of the night monitoring if United Airlines had found his stuff yet. Luckily, it has been located & should be dropped off to him within the next few hours. It will be some much needed extra cash. This pay should help pay to finish renovations on my bathroom.
It was a hugely tearful goodbye (on my & Mr. Fantastic's end). We're counting down the days to when he gets to come home.

Second: The Olympics!!!! Don't bother calling or expecting to hear from me for a couple of weeks. I watch the olympics with fervor and the kids have gotten on board with it, too. You're lucky I'm posting this as it is. My favorite events? Gymnastics, volleyball (beach & court - I was thrilled with the USA team today, one of the players is LDS, did you know?), and any water sport. I'm not too big of a fan for track & field or wrestling... just the ones that I have personal interest in. My claim to fame - I met Guard Whatshisname (he's not on the men's gymnastics team this year but was last time) at Seven Peaks when I was a teenager. I spent all afternoon with his friend & my cousin.

Third: School is starting next week. I'll be down to 1 child a couple of times a week! YES!!!! The boys can hardly wait. We've gone school shopping for everyone and tomorrow we finish up with school supplies. Poor Optimus Prime gets so many hand-me-downs. He's such a nice kid, he deserves to have the new stuff - but he's a good sport & I made sure he got just as many new items of clothing as Mr. Fantastic. Even though they wear the same size T-shirts. I just can't wait for school to start.

Fourth: Mr. Fantastic was supposed to be re-mapped this week (Monday). We had planned to stay in Denver with my parents this weekend so that I could get Mr. F. fixed. His settings aren't working too well for him and he needs a new headpiece which can only be ordered through the audiologist... Needless to say, the appointment had to be rescheduled for after the start of school thus causing the first couple of weeks to be difficult.

Fifth: I'm sure there is a fifth but lack of sleep is catching up with me and I've had a brain fart. I KNOW there was something else I was anxious to share. Oh well, such is my life with pregnancy brain.

So all in all, if I don't comment on your blog for a little bit, know that I'm still here & I still care - I just am a little preoccupied flying solo for the next two weeks.

I'm not an Olympic fanatic, like you, but I do enjoy watching occasionally. I love the gymnastics - women's more than men's - and any water sport. I had never before seen the dual diving before last night and was blown anyway by how synchronized they were!

You're life sounds crazy busy ... hope it slows down once school is in session.
