Wow! It's been awhile since I've done a Tuesday Tip. WHAT should I tip about today?
Let's do a cleaning tip today. It's the holidays and many of us will be wanting a clean throne for our guests to sit upon while they are visiting.
(I'm not having company come, but you may.)
I'm not saying that having a clean throne is only necessary when company comes, but some people get pretty nit picky for company... Me personally, I like a clean throne for my own bum in addition to the other people that may use my bathroom.
SO - here's a tip to get rid of that unsightly ring around your toilet bowl. You know the one I'm talking about - it sits right at the water level and for those of us with hard water, we also tend to get the "stains" from where the water fills the bowl. Not only does this tip work for the weird water stains but also for *gasp* urine stains on the bowl, too. Let's say it together - EEEEEEW!
Some people may have very delicate porcelain, so pumice stones are too rough on it and can scratch. That's not cool. And then there's the under the rim area that can get stinky if not taken care of properly but that darn pumice stone won't fit under the rim. So what's a domestic diva to do?
She buys Drywall Screen (also known as plumber's screen). You can buy it at your local hardware store - I even found some at Voldemart (but it doesn't specify the grit). I recommend 120 grit or finer. You can rip it as easily as duct tape (if not MORE easily). Just rip into a small square - about 2 1/2" square - and use it to scrub off the hard water deposits and ickies that are lurking in your toilet bowl. (And additionally, you can use it for the build-up around faucets and drains as well - just be careful because some metals don't like to be scrubbed like that.)
Don't be alarmed by the black deposits that come off while you're scrubbing - they'll flush down the toilet when you push that little lever on the left. Not a big deal.
So - when you're using the bathroom this holiday season and notice that ring starting to form again (or AFTER the holidays, for that matter), go grab some screening while you're cleaning your lavatory and your throne will be sparkly and shiny and new looking again!

(This isn't my toilet. I mean, it LOOKS like my toilet, shiny and sparkly and all. But obviously it isn't because there's a bathtub in the picture. And we all know - I still don't have a bathtub in my house... But that's another post.) Whoever's toilet this is - they should really clean their tub out a little better before posting pictures on the WWW... Just an additional tip for the day.)

(Not that your other tips haven't been great, cuz they are. You know what I mean, right??? There's just something about toilets....) ;-)
