Yesterday afternoon Popeye & I were awoken from our nap by the phone ringing. (Yes, I am able to take naps - it's so cool, huh?)
It was the school. (We're still on Christmas break.) This is what I heard:
"Yes."
"Oh. What time?"
"We'll be in S----- for a doctors appointment at that time."
"Uh huh. Okay. Mrs. M. 5455. Thanks."
Evidently Mr. Fantastic is getting a new 2nd grade teacher effective immediately. They were having a meeting this afternoon to meet her and ask questions. Since we wouldn't be back from the doctor in time, we were given the number to the Superintendent to ask questions as to why Mr. Fantastic's teacher would not be returning.
Must be big. I mean, if he were sick, wouldn't they just say, "Mr. N is sick and won't be returning to school."? Why hold a meeting with all the parents? I can understand wanting Mr. Fantastic to meet his teacher and give her the briefing on his ear and all - but ALL the parents?
I was intrigued - but couldn't get in any earlier. So we came into town the back way & I thought I'd try the school to see if the teacher was still there.
She was. We met her and she's lovely.
And then I was called into the Principal's office (boy, it's been a looong time since THAT'S happened). He said that the reason Mr. N wouldn't be coming back is very much my business and filled me in on what has happened. To keep from gossiping (even though the information will be released to the public tomorrow), I'll keep it somewhat vague. Mr. N has been engaging in illegal activities and he got caught.
That is unfortunate - he was a nice man - but I'm glad he got caught. (I wonder if he cashed in on his gift certificate that we got him to the local bookstore...)
Creep.
So that's the news of the day. Let's turn it into a tip, shall we?
If you get the urge to perform illegal activities - don't do it. You'll get caught (and then you'll start to cry - sorry couldn't help myself). So just be good, okay? Make good choices, no matter how appealing the wrong choices may seem to be.

Oh goodness....well, at least your visit to the principle's office wasn't because one of your little ones had a mis-hap *wink*. I am glad the school took care of everything and that the new teacher will be a great move.
