Yesterday we blessed Grand Duchess at church. Popeye even had a tape recorder in his pocket (like always) but forgot to hit record before he started. So I'm going to have to go off memory when recording her blessing. It was really beautiful. WAY better than Thor's. I mean it! In Thor's blessing he was told that he "would have trials" over 3 times. A little disconcerting since Mr. Fantastic has had some pretty doozy trials and his blessing didn't say anything about that.
Anyhow. Mom & Dad came. Popeye's dad and step-mom came. Even Trooper D showed up!
During testimony meeting (you never know who is going to stand and what they will say), I felt prompted to get up. I had no idea what I was going to say when I got up there because I think I get up there a lot. But after I got started and fumbled through the beginning, I remembered what had happened to Mr. Fantastic over the course of the previous 24 hours. See, his 'ear' broke on Saturday and we don't have the replacement part (that WAS the replacement part). So he's been without hearing. Well, yesterday morning during family prayer, while Popeye was offering the prayer, I was praying in my own heart that Mr. Fantastic would be able to hear with the Spirit and understand something, ANYTHING, that day. I wanted him to feel Heavenly Father's love for him through the Spirit. About 20 seconds later, Popeye offered the same prayer. So after family prayer was over, I "talked" with Mr. Fantastic about it and asked him to try and stay in tune with the Spirit. It was a good teaching moment for him.
Anyway - I closed my testimony and sat down. After a while, Trooper D stood up and went up to the stand and leaned over to the bishopric and asked if he could say something.
I know, right?! Totally cool!!!
So after approval, he stood up and delivered a really nice address to everyone. He talked about answers to prayers and urged the congregation to appreciate the things they have. I think he was talking about our family & the other family that he was sitting with - but I took it as "the gospel". It was just really nice.
He came to gospel doctrine with us to hear Popeye teach and he even made a comment about how after reading the Book of Mormon you feel a sense of peace and are slower to contend with others. Before class, an older lady in the ward turned to him and said, "I look forward to coming to your baptism." We all laughed at that, but secretly were thinking the same thing.
So class was really good and Popeye delivered a wonderful lesson about Joseph Smith and the importance of latter-day revelation (in a nut shell).
After church was over we all came back to our house (minus Trooper D, he had to go) and had a yummy lunch of deli sandwiches, apple coleslaw (SUPER YUMMY!), spicy chicken artichoke dip & lemonade. Then we had hot fudge sundaes (courtesy of Mom - she makes the BEST hot fudge) and we visited a little longer before all the 'rents left. The kids enjoyed hanging with their grandparents and I enjoyed helping my dad put in the window in the bathroom!!! Yes people, you read that right! No more demo!!! Now we're putting it together again!
It was a really great weekend & I'm still on a high from it, despite the fact that I just paid over $200 for Mr. Fantastic's head piece. At least he'll be hearing again by 10:45 tomorrow morning. He stayed home from school today because of it. Face it, we don't sign too much in our house - we should do more of that when occurances like this happen. Oh well. He's glad to stay home. Again.
Anyway. Other things happening this week/today.
I have a doctor appointment to get my IUD in. No More Babies!!!
Optimus Prime has his first soccer game tonight, given the weather holds off.
Popeye heads to Cheyenne for drill tomorrow.
On Wednesday Mr. Fantastic has an all-day field trip with the other deaf/hard of hearing kids in our area. They'll be driving 2 1/2 hours each way for their day of fun. He's excited about that.
I think Duchess has a doctor's appointment this week sometime. I should check my calendar.
I go back to work on Thursday. I can hardly wait to start burning the calories again. I've gained serious weight over the last 2 months. I'm not happy about that.
Alright - I think those are the basics and I'm done rambling for now. Time to go buy the remaining supplies for the bathroom so that Popeye can put in the tub tonight... one can only hope.
Oh yeah - and a serious happy dance took place over the weekend when I found out that I can get ALL of the trim for my house for FREE!!!!!!! I am SO excited! I get it in May!

Nat, I'm so glad you had a good weekend. I wish we could have been there. But I had to teach AND interpret at a fireside last night, and there was no one else to do it. But we love you and miss you all!
