Random Acts of Kindness

You all know Sara. She's super cool. I get to meet her "officially" in May and I couldn't be more excited! Anyway - to help define how cool Sara is, I'll let you in on a secret. She's having a giveaway. That's right, folks, Sara is giving away some Magical Munchy Popcorn kits. I've made it. It's yummy and truly magical! She is giving away 3 kits for this yummy stuff and in order for me to get my hands on some of it, I have to post something.

Now, this 'something' is not just to mention that she's having a giveaway - but to tell you of a random act of kindness that has been rendered to me. Something that affected me so deeply that I feel compelled to blog about it. (Sara, ignore the fact that half of my Christmas posts were targeted towards just that...) I think I should come up with something new. Something to let others know that I'm truly grateful for even the little things.

Two "little" things come to mind immediately. The first one is that Mr. Cap'n took my pregnancy photos this morning. You remember Mr. Cap'n, right? He took those photos of Princess Monkey Eyes and Ladybug in the sunflower field. Anyway. He got some new photography toys and wanted to play with them. And knowing that I've been itching to do some pregnancy photos (as this is my LAST pregnancy - I promise), Cap'n called me up and asked if he could play while I posed in front of the camera. To him it was probably something completely trivial as he has 2 adorable children and a lovely wife to practice on. But he asked me, and that was huge! (And the photo shoot was super fun, low key, and the pictures are going to be brilliant!)

The second thing that comes to mind actually involves our own Sara. Last year she sent me a card. It was completely out of the blue. It had a picture of a sandwich on it and the saying was quite clever. (Now don't hate me, but I can't find it right NOW. I can't find ANY of the cards that I've been saving - I just reorganized and evidently that place where I thought I'd remember where they are wasn't great...) Anyway. At that time in my life, I was doing fine. But on the day that the card came, I had been having a really rough time. Life was pretty hard that day & that card was just what I needed to get my attitude back in check and get happy again!

So - thanks to Mr. Cap'n for filling my self esteem to overflowing today by taking some seriously amazing photos. And thank you to dear Sara who, on a whim, thought of a friend and saved this friend's family heartache and discomfort by cheering her up!

(Now go post about a random act of kindness someone else has performed for you and tell Sara about it before midnight tomorrow... That is, if you want in on the goodies! Yeah, I always save it until the very end - it increases my odds that way. I'm sneaky like that.)

This makes me want to send cards to friends for no reason than to say, Hi.

Thanks for the story and the motivation to reach out.
